Maskinen
Maskinen ("The Machine") is a Swedish hip-hop / electro band consisting of members from other acts such as Afasi & Filthy and Slagsmålsklubben. They've only released three singles but managed to create quite a stir not only on Swedish dance floors but also around the world – from headlining parties in Brooklyn and Brazil to heavy support from Bonde Do Role, Erland Öje and plenty of other Dj’s around the world.
Their first single was released in 2007, "Alla Som Inte Dansar Är Våldtäktsmän" (Those Who Don't Dance Are Rapists). It goes without saying that the somewhat brazen title led to some serious panic amongst the moral majority in Sweden and Norway. Still, the clubbers loved it. And it even sold certified gold in Denmark. And with over 3,500,000 views on YouTube, the single was an enormous hit. With their second single, "Segertåget" (The Victory Train) - a shameless flirt with baile funk - it seems that
everybody has jumped the Maskinen bandwagon. As with the third single, "Pengar" which Maskinen brought out to the public when they headlined P3 Guld in 2009 at Skandinavium in Göteborg. The video received 25,000 views on YouTube it's first week. In the fall of 2009, Pope will release one of the most anticipated albums ever in Scandinavia. We're eager to hear what it sounds like, just like all of you. There is no doubt we will all be surprised as we dance along to the sounds of Maskinen. And Maskinen now working with producers Filthy, Style of Eye, Bonde Do Role and DaDa Life, you know it will be more than great!
